The Historic Matewan House Bed and Breakfast is nestled in the Mountains of West Virginia. Located in one of the most famous little towns in the state, Matewan, WV, known for the history making Hatfield McCoy feuds and the Matewan Massacre.

The Mountaineer Hotel was built in 1925 as a community project. In order to raise the necessary capital, stock was sold in the hotel corporation. The majority of stock was sold to the residents of Williamson. Final construction costs totaled $600,000 (calculating for inflation, that is greater than $8,000,000 today).

A perfect retreat for Hatfield McCoy Trail riders. Open Trail Lodging is located near the Buffalo Mountain Trail.
